Bing Streetside is now available in the UK, mainly around London as you can see from the map above. Google Street View already cover almost every single street in the UK. Bing Maps is apparently more focused on some of the largest roads and tourist attractions. Manchester and Merseyside area will be covered with the next update.

Monday is the first day of Microsoft taking photos in Germany. This could be a major competition for Google Maps Street View. Bing Streetside are now taking photos in 50 cities in Germany. It is expected to be ready within the next 18 months. More about this is explained by Olivier Blanchard, head of Microsoft’s online business operations in Germany:

Four Bing Streetside cars are today starting to take photos from the streets of London. Microsoft Bing Maps recently announced they will take photos in Germany too. Bing Streetside is currently only available in the US, but will be coming to Europe this summer.
