We will soon be able to see Street View images from Israel. The Ministry of Justice of Israel have today allowed Google to start taking images. Google have not announced when they will do that. They will have to announce when and where they will take images according to the government decision. (Globes)

Google Maps Street View is coming to Israel! It will likely take some time until we see any images from Israel on Street View, but lawmakers today said ok. This according to JTA.

The ministerial team instructed experts to work to protect vital public interests and decided that cooperation with Google would continue in order to operate the service in Israel as soon as possible, according to the Prime Minister’s Office.

Google reportedly plans to photograph only Tel Aviv, Jerusalem and Haifa. Certain areas of the cities reportedly will not be allowed to be photographed for security reasons.

Forbes report today that the Israeli government are considering to let Google take photos of streets in Israel. There has been a concern in Israel that Street View images can be used to plot terror attacks.

An official statement says a team of Israeli Cabinet ministers instructed experts Monday to work with Google to find a safe way to implement the feature “as soon as possible.”
