According to swedish newspapers Metro and Dagens Nyheter, Google started to cover Sweden today with it’s StreetView cameras. The three largest cities will be covered, the capital Stockholm, Gothenburg (Göteborg) and Malmo (Malmö). It will take a couple of months until the images will be online. Hitta.se already have street view images from Stockholm thanks to Mapjack.

Good news, bad news
The good news:
Along with Google’s Street View update came many new features, including the photoshopping to make the Google car disappear.
The bad news:
Along with this update came the removal of some of the things that made Street View funny sometimes. Things that will no longer be seen in Street View are:
Hi-resolution imagery
People’s faces
Previous Street Views of hi-resolution Street View.
Those things were giving Google lots of trouble, so all imagery is now lower resolution.
New images from Pattaya in Thailand and China
Mapjack have added Pattaya in Thailand to their growing list of cities with street view images. They also have images from San Francisco, Sausalito, Lake Tahoe, Yosemite National Park and Chiang Mai in Thailand.
China have a street view service similar to Google Maps StreetView named City8. It covers 30 cities in China. Unfortunately it’s only available in chinese at the moment but a representative from the company tells StreetViewFun.com that they will soon have an english version.
Mapjack in Lake Tahoe and Yosemite
You can now see street view images similar to Google Maps StreetView at Mapjack from Lake Tahoe and Yosemite National Park. Mapjack have previously added images from San Francisco and Sausalito in the US and Chiang Mai in Thailand.
Images at Mapjack have a much higher quality than the ones available through Googles StreetView. But Google have already images from 30 cities in the US and plan many more.
StreetView on Google Earth
Later today StreetView will be included in Google Earth, several websites report. This is part of the launch of Google Earth 4.3. In this new version 3-d images of buildings will load faster and you will have the option to see day and night lighting. You can now also add YouTube videos to Google Maps.
Couple sue Google due to Street View images of their home
A couple in Pittsburgh have sued Google claiming street view images of their home invades privacy. The images were taken from a private road owned by the couple and that’s why they may have a valid case, but most likely Google have not done anything illegal when publishing those images.
