On Tuesday, November 2, Google Maps Street View will release the first images from Germany. Privacy concerns have delayed the release of images from this nation. It now looks like we are only hours away from seeing the very first images. Some people have decided to opt-out of the service in Germany. That means their house will not appear on Google Maps Street View.
The very first city to be released is named Oberstaufen. It will be on street view at 10:30 local time on Tuesday according to several sources. Apparently this is a preview of what will come later. Only a few other places in Germany are expected to be on street view on Tuesday. Perhaps some of the more famous tourist sights in Berlin? It is a this time not known when the big release of images from Germany might happen.
By the end of the year 20 of the largest German cities will be available on Street View: Berlin, Bielefeld, Bochum, Bonn, Bremen, Dortmund, Dresden, Duisburg, Düsseldorf, Essen, Frankfurt am Main, Hamburg, Hannover, Köln, Leipzig, Mannheim, München, Nürnberg, Stuttgart and Wuppertal.
Images of Oberstaufen are already live, but only a few streets, it looks like. There are also images of stadiums only in at least a couple of large cities.
